World Cup 2014 radio rights go to TalkSport
TalkSport has secured live commentary rights to the 2014 football World Cup, as it looks to bounce back after its 2013 revenues were hit by the absence of a major international football tournament. The UTV Media-owned commercial radio station is to broadcast live commentary of every match from the opening game of the 2014 World Cup on 12 June through to the final at the Maracana Stadium on 13 July.
Live commentary rights will be shared with BBC Radio 5 Live, as they have been for the past two World Cup tournaments.
Iggy Pop, The Clash and Lars Ulrich set to rock Radio 6 Music for Christmas
BBC Radio 6 Music will be truly rocking around the Christmas tree this year with
‘godfather of punk’ Iggy Pop presenting two programmes, a very special interview
with Metallica’s Lars Ulrich, plus Mick Jones and Paul Simonon of legendary band
The Clash presenting their own show.
Children in need!
Radio stations all over the country are doing their bit to raise money for Children in need today and many music stars will be on the Children in need programme tonight.
BBC Radio 3 this morning presented two singles for BBC Children in Need, in a girls v boys ‘Musical Battle’ inspired by songs by Little Mix and One Direction. The Girls and the Boys will battle it out with reimagined classical versions of hits by One Direction and Little Mix, arranged by Steve Pycroft.
Music videos for each single and a behind-the-scenes video are available now on Radio 3’s YouTube channel.
